Camera Phone Scanning World

To enable your Nokia 7610 camera phone to read or scan QR Codes and Datamatrix Codes, you must first install code reader software on your device. HP Labs UK offers a free reader called Glass for download.

There are three ways to download and install the software on your phone: via SMS (UK only), directly to your mobile, via computer to your phone.

Once you have installed the Glass code reading software, you will be able to scan codes directly from your computer monitor, print the codes and scan them from paper, and scan codes that you find anywhere.

Download via SMS (UK only)

Step 1 - Text “go apapp” (without the quotes) to 85080.

Step 2 - You will receive two SMS’s back. Respond to the SMS that fits the capabilities of your phone.

Step 3 - Once you have the Glass application on your phone follow the installation prompts, selecting to install the application in your phone’s memory or on the memory card.

Step 4 - Find the Glass application in the phone’s main menu and click on it.

Step 5 - The application will open in “disabled” mode and will not read codes. To enable the application, you must agree to let Glass download a small key. After completing the download, the Glass application will automatically close.

Step 6 - Follow the instructions for installing the key. Be sure to install the key in the same location as the Glass application.

Step 7 - Start Glass again and you should be ready to scan codes!

Install via your phone

Step 1 - Enter activeprint.org/g into your phone’s browser to download the installer file (about 150 KBytes).

Step 2 - Once you have the Glass application on your phone follow the installation prompts, selecting to install the application in your phone’s memory or on the memory card.

Step 3 - Find the Glass application in the phone’s main menu and click on it.

Step 4 - The application will open in “disabled” mode and will not read codes. To enable the application, you must agree to let Glass download a small key. After completing the download, the Glass application will automatically close.

Step 5 - Follow the instructions for installing the key. Be sure to install the key in the same location as the Glass application.

Step 6 - Start Glass again and you should be ready to scan codes!

Install via computer to your phone.

Step 1 - Aim your computer’s browser at http://activeprint.org/download.html

Step 2 - Select your make and model of phone and download the .sis file to your computer.

Step 3 - Transfer the file to your phone using a Bluetooth, infrared or cable connection. See your phone’s user manual if you are not familiar with this process.

Step 4 - Once you have the Glass application on your phone follow the installation prompts, selecting to install the application in your phone’s memory or on the memory card.

Step 5 - Find the Glass in the phone’s main menu and click on it.

Step 6 - The application will open in “disabled” mode and will not read codes. To enable the application, you must agree to let Glass download a small key. After completing the download, the Glass application will automatically close.

Step 7 - Follow the instructions for installing the key. Be sure to install the key in the same location as the Glass application.
